帕海貝爾在西洋音樂史上經常被忽略，他的作品也都沒有獲得妥善的保管, 作品曾對巴赫產生過很大的影響

克勞迪奧·喬瓦尼·安東尼奧·蒙特威爾第
（義大利語：Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi，1567－1643）
義大利作曲家、製琴師。出生於義大利北部克雷莫納市的他，從小就接觸聖歌等音樂教育，並在未成年即有作品面世
16世紀末，受到貢扎加家族支助下，他與宮廷歌手合作，出版了牧歌等普羅歌曲。而《奧菲歐》可算是蒙特威爾第最出名的歌劇。
蒙特威爾第被認為是古典音樂史上一位劃時代的人物，是巴洛克音樂的早期代表
他的牧歌創作是文藝復興這一時期音樂體裁的巔峰，而他的歌劇創作則是這種體裁的奠基之作
他雖不是第一個寫出歌劇的作曲家，然而他所創作的歌劇卻可以一直流傳至今日，甚至影響在後世各樂派的作曲家。
