Idiot Wind

Someone's got it in for me
They're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out quick
But when they will I can only guess

They say I shot a man named Gray
And took his wife to Italy
She inherited a million bucks (雄鹿)
And when she died it came to me
I can't help it if I'm lucky

People see me all the time
And they just can't remember how to act
Their minds are filled with big ideas
Images and distorted facts

Even you, yesterday
You had to ask me where it was at
I couldn't believe after all these years
You didn't know me better than that
Sweet lady

Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your mouth
Blowing down the back roads headin' south

Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your teeth

You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

I ran into the fortune-teller
Who said beware of lightning that might strike
I haven't known peace and quiet
For so long I can't remember what it's like
There's a lone soldier on the cross
Smoke pourin' out of a boxcar door
You didn't know it, you didn't think it could be done
In the final end he won the wars
After losin' every battle

I woke up on the roadside
Daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes are
Visions of your chestnut mare (大栗子)

Shoot through my head and are makin' me see stars
You hurt the ones that I love best
And cover up the truth with lies
One day you'll be in the ditch (溝渠)
Flies buzzin' around your eyes
Blood on your saddle (鞍)

Idiot wind
Blowing through the flowers on your tomb
Blowing through the curtains in your room

Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your teeth

You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

It was gravity which pulled us down
And destiny which broke us apart
You tamed the lion in my cage
But it just wasn't enough to change my heart
Now everything's a little upside down
As a matter of fact the wheels have stopped
What's good is bad, what's bad is good
You'll find out when you reach the top
You're on the bottom

I noticed at the ceremony
Your corrupt ways had finally made you blind
I can't remember your face anymore
Your mouth has changed
Your eyes don't look into mine
The priest wore black on the seventh day
And sat stone-faced while the building burned
I waited for you on the running boards
Near the cypress trees, while the springtime turned
Slowly into autumn

Idiot wind
Blowing like a circle around my skull (頭骨),
From the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol

Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your teeth

You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe

I can't feel you anymore
I can't even touch the books you've read
Every time I crawl past your door
I been wishin' I was somebody else instead
Down the highway, down the tracks
Down the road to ecstasy
I followed you beneath the stars
Hounded by your memory
And all your ragin' glory

I been double-crossed now
For the very last time and now I'm finally free

I kissed goodbye the howling beast
On the borderline which separated you from me
You'll never know the hurt I suffered
Nor the pain I rise above,

And I'll never know the same about you
Your holiness or your kind of love
And it makes me feel so sorry

Idiot wind
Blowing through the buttons of our coats
Blowing through the letters that we wrote

Idiot wind
Blowing through the dust upon our shelves

We're idiots, babe
It's a wonder we can even feed ourselves

Like a Rolling Stone

Bob Dylan

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?

People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall'
You thought they were all kidding you

You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hanging out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging (note1) your next meal

How does it feel, how does it feel?

To be without a home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ahh you've gone to the finest schools, alright Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it

Nobody's ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you're gonna have to get used to it

You say you never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize

He's not selling any alibis (藉口)
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
A complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ah you never turned around to see the frowns
On the jugglers (變戲法) and the clowns when they all did tricks for you

You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you

You used to ride on a chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat

Ain't it hard when you discovered that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal

How does it feel, how does it feel?
To have on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made

Exchanging all precious gifts
But you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn (典當) it babe

You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags (戲耍) and the language that he used

Go to him he calls you, you can't refuse
When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal

How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone

Django Reinhardt

"Reinhardt was very much a real musician, and was indeed the reigning king of jazz guitar from the 1930s to the 50s.

Reinhardt’s incredible skill is all the more impressive considering he only had use of three fingers on his left hand due to injuries sustained in a caravan fire in 1928."

Ben Harper

Harper plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock music and is known for his guitar-playing skills, vocals, live performances, and activism.

He has released twelve regular studio albums

Joan Baez

"The Queen of Folk"

an American folk singer, songwriter, musician, and activist whose contemporary folk music often includes songs of protest or social justice,

Joan Baez has performed publicly for over 60 years, releasing over 30 albums. Fluent in Spanish and English, she has also recorded songs in at least six other languages.

She is regarded as a folk singer, although her music has diversified since the counterculture days of the 1960s and now encompasses everything from folk rock and pop to country and gospel music.

Idea

(8 working hours)

12hrs/ day.
(22 working days)

Greatful Dead JohnPerry Barlow

His #lyrics, like his #lifestyle, were a world of cowboys, nature and passions. He was a literary heir to #WaltWhitman (惠特曼), depicting a rugged American #individualism, #romanticism and #freedom

a poet of frontiers and of freedom

Time after time

  • Story

Lauper and Hyman dispensed with the film's #plot, coming up instead with a 1980s-defining romantic ballad that distilled the #contradictory emotions of an #unwinding relationship (放不掉的矛盾情感) into four minutes of brilliantly conceived narrative pop. Here, a young woman moves on — not dumped — from a relationship that she still treasures: “If you’re lost you can look — and you will find me / time after time / if you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting, time after time.”

  • Style

Confident and #iconoclastic, Lauper influenced a line of female singers, from Madonna to Alanis Morissette and Britney Spears. But it was about more than her look.

She was a genuine musician, with a four-octave range (4個八度的音域) that she sometimes deployed in seemingly #casual near- #cartoonish ways. The #lyrics to “Time After Time” border on the #poetic, and Lauper’s rhythmically delivered post-punk #vocals, fitting with sparse drums, swirly keyboards and a light, slow-reggae beat, combine into a #powerfully affecting force.

MusicJournalism (or MusicCriticism") is media criticism and reporting about popular music topics, including pop music, rock music, and related styles.
Journalists began writing about music in the eighteenth century, providing commentary on what is now thought of as classical music.

In the 2000s, a more prominent branch of music journalism is an aspect of entertainment journalism, covering popular music and including profiles of singers and bands, live concert, and album reviews

Wishbone Ash

Whether in music or in fiction, the most #basic thing is #rhythm. Your style needs to have good, natural, steady rhythm, or people won’t keep reading your work. I learned the importance of rhythm from music — and mainly from jazz. Next comes #melody — which, in literature, means the appropriate arrangement of the words to match the rhythm.
If the way "the words fit the rhythm is smooth and beautiful", you can’t ask for anything more. Next is #harmony — the internal mental sounds that support the words. Then comes the part I like best: free #improvisation. Through some special channel, the story comes welling out freely from inside. All I have to do is get into the flow.”
#quote
“… a certain type of #perfection (完美) can only be realized through a limitless accumulation of the #imperfect (不完美)”
#Silence, many argue, is just as integral to the quality of music as the “music” itself. It is the #space that breathes life and brings drama to the work.
#Silence became something we no longer understood; a luxury we couldn’t afford — and something that became increasingly uncomfortable.
It’s the stage at which we become aware that we need to #improve and need to make the choice to do what it takes to learn. It’s a high summit, and at that point, we are collectively standing at the bottom looking up.

The best part is… every artist, #musician, athlete, intellectual and craftsperson has been there, and as individuals like Haruki Murakami show us every day, it’s never too late to start your #ascent

(Gillian Welch

Bill Frisell

Emily Remler

  • She listened to pop and rock guitarists like

1 #JimiHendrix and
2 #JohnnyWinter

  • she listened to jazz guitarists

3 #CharlieChristian,
4 #WesMontgomery,
5 #HerbEllis,
6 #PatMartino
7 #JoePass
